About the Event

Celebrate the Lunar New Year & join us for a Zoom cooking session.  One of our greatest supporters of It's From Scratch is the amazing Jennifer Joyce.  She is a recipe creator, food stylist and cookbook author.  She created the amazing My Asian Kitchen Cookbook from which the recipes for this cookalong are drawn.

The menu for the evening is

  • Prawn/Tofu Gyoza
  • Spicy Xian Noodles
  • Passion Fruit Yo Yo Biscuits

We can provide adivice on substitute ingredients if you require them, please just let us know before the class date.  When you register for the event we will send you the shopping list & equipment list.  The zoom link will follow closer to the event date.  The charge for each class is £17.99 per 'screen' - in other words your whole household can cook together but you pay just £17.99.   We do not provide ingredients or equipment but try to ensure all ingredients are easy to access and provide alternatives. Only basic equipment is needed, you will generally need access to 2 hob burners and an oven. An electric handheld whisk or stand mixer is also recommended for this class.

The Spicy Xian Noodles can be made using Pork mince or with a vegetarian meat substitute mince and the Gyoza can be made with either prawns or tofu.

If you want more information on what a Live! Cookalong is like please have a look at our Blog post on just that.

There will be a requirement to prepare/pre weigh some of the ingredients and we'll let you know about those too.   For this class we do ask you to make a flour and water dough mix before the class too - this is to allow the required resting time.  The video instructions on how to make the dough are here.   If it's your first class with us we'll call you in the week leading up to the class so you can ask questions and know what to expect.    All our classes are fun and relaxed, you can ask questions as we go and we don't rush ahead.  This class is scheduled to last 2 hours (but please allow for a 15 minute overrrun) and then you can enjoy the feast you have created.

There is always time for mid-class washing up during the class as well as a 10 minute break at the mid point.
